Sunriver to host USGA Senior Women's Amateur
Resort's Meadows Course will field national event in 2007

Far Hills, N.J. – Sunriver Resort in Sunriver, Ore., has been selected by the United States Golf Association, as the site of the 2007 USGA Senior Women’s Amateur. The dates of the championship are September 1-6.

The Meadows Course at Sunriver Resort (www.sunriver-resort.com) was opened in 1969 and was revised in 1999 by John Fought, an Oregonian, who won the 1977 U.S. Amateur. Seven holes of the course border the Sunriver. The design pays tribute to American courses of the 1920s and 30s with directional and fore bunkers in prominent use.

Sunriver’s Meadow Course has previously served as the site of the 2002 U.S. Women’s Amateur Public Links Championship, which was won by Annie Thurman-Young.

The Meadow Course has also hosted the 2005 NCAA Division I Women’s Championship.

“We are excited about hosting our second USGA Championship at Sunriver Resort,” said Rich Taylor, co-general chairman. “The entire resort staff, volunteers, and golf department are already preparing to provide a memorable experience for the players, families and friends.”

Prior to 2007, the USGA Senior Women’s Amateur will be played at Sea Island Golf Club in St. Simons Island, Ga., from Oct. 7-12, 2006.
