Eagle, Idaho (Sunday, August 26) – Todd Points of Star, Idaho outlasted the rest of the field, carding a final round 3-under par 68 to win the 2007 PNGA Men’s Amateur Public Links, being held at BanBury Golf Club in Eagle, Idaho. Nicole Olson of Boise, Idaho, who held a six stroke lead after the first round, won the Women’s Amateur Public Links in a one-hole playoff.
Points didn’t have the most consistent round this afternoon, but he made seven birdies on the championship layout of BanBury GC. Points finished the championship strong. He didn’t seem to be in contention after the first nine holes, carding a 1-over par 36. But his 4-under par 32 on the back nine holes is what guaranteed the win.
In the Senior Division, Kent Brown and Craig Zeigler went into a six-hole playoff. Brown and Zeigler both made pars on the first five holes, but on the fourth hole of the playoff, Brown hit his drive into the right hazard. He was able to get up and down from 80-yards to keep the playoff alive. On the sixth hole of the playoff, Zeigler missed a 25-foot putt for birdie and Kent made his 21-foot for birdie to win.
